What is Group Therapy?
Group therapy at The Love Collective (TLC), involves one therapist who leads a group of roughly five to 15 women on a weekly basis. Typically, groups meet for an hour or two each week and covers topics specific to relationships and addiction. Some people attend individual therapy in addition to group, while others participate in groups only.
Each group combines therapeutic skills and psycho-education to help women feel empowered, knowledgeable, and most importantly supported. All groups at TLC uses the approach that we can health through love, meaning a deeper understanding, appreciation, and patience for self will increase your ability to make better decisions, and to love others without feeling depleted and helpless.
Benefits of Group Therapy:
Joining a group of strangers may sound intimidating at first, but group therapy provides benefits that individual therapy may not. Groups can act as a support network and a sounding board. Other members of the group often help you come up with specific ideas for improving a difficult situation or life challenge, and hold you accountable along the way.
Regularly talking and listening to others also helps you put your own problems in perspective. Many people experience difficulties, but few speak openly about them to people they don't know well. Oftentimes, you may feel like you are the only one struggling — but you're not. It can be a relief to hear others discuss what they're going through, and realize you're not alone.

My Relationship-Focused groups will HELP you if:
- You’ve been struggling to maintain happy and healthy relationships
- You've battled self-esteem issues, anxiety, and/or depression that is directly connected to the discordant relationships (intimate, family, etc.) in your life
- You're beginning to acknowledge that you depend on love and attention from others for validation
- You've jumped from relationship to relationship without taking time to heal and process your feelings
- You're ready to share your experiences and learn from women who struggle with relationships
- You're ready to learn how to use self-love to promote change
- You’re willing to be open and honest about how you have contributed to your current situation
- You’re open to receiving feedback from the group, and give constructive feedback.

Whether it's ending unhealthy relationships or rebuilding your life, working collectively with a group of women who are sharing a similar journey can be life changing.
Counseling is an essential part of growth and change for many people. Cognitive behavioral therapy, family counseling, and other therapy approaches can help people recovering from damaging unhealthy relationships and other personal issues (i.e. anxiety, depression, etc.).
However, things like life stressors, environmental cues, and social networks could thrust you back into bad habits, and without proper support, you're at risk for going back to unhealthy ways of coping.
Group and individual therapy is where you can learn new coping strategies, and have a supportive network of women to help you have the courage to heal and move on with the goals in your life.
